What is Commando Krav Maga?
Commando Krav Maga is the Krav Maga system as devised by Moni Aizik. The System was officially born in 1973. Aizik, now living in Canada, still visits Israel.
Commando Krav Maga, aka CKM, is considered by many experts to be the most devastating fighting system in the world. In CKM, you’ll learn to defeat attackers (even multiple attackers) armed with knives, guns, bottles, sticks, baseball bats etc. Additionally, you’ll learn how to debilitate your opponent immediately irrespective of his size, training background or experience level. Most importantly, you’ll see immediate results. The system is based on simple and reflexive moves that will save your life! The effectiveness of the techniques has been battle tested time and time again. Remember, CKM is taught to the most elite commando units and SWAT forces in Israel and around the world. most importantly, you’ll also be training your mind to be a winner as you will be able to confidently handle any of life’s innumerable challenges. Where many Krav Maga systems focus on 'punishing' an attacker e.g. raining down punches and kicks etc, Commando Krav Maga practices quick disengagements. This is because it is recognised that fights have many different dimensions to them e.g. what starts as a fist fight, may have a grappling component, go to ground and then the attacker may pull a knife. Spending too much time in 'contact' with the aggressor/attacker, trying to punish them increases the chance of having to fight in another dimension where it may have been possible to escape.
Etymology The term Krav Maga in Hebrew is usually translated as "Contact Combat." The word maga (מגע) means "contact". The word krav (קרב) means "fight". The prefix "Commando" is used to signify that this is the Krav Maga system which is used by the Israeli Special Forces Sayeret
